Part of its territory includes islands to the west of its shores, the Marias, Isabel, Tres Marietas and Farallón La Peña islands in the Pacific Ocean.
Its terrain is broken up by the western ends of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains.
Riviera Nayarit also has several lagoons such as the Santa María del Oro, San Pedro Lagunillas and Agua Brava as well as a protected rainforest.
With all of the beautiful nature, it's no wonder part of the reason people come to Riviera Nayarit is to enjoy the great outdoors.
